The Jury

The Jury consists of an Under Secretary General, a Special Advisor, an Envoy, and President of the United Nations Staff Union, New York as well as of a curator and a critic from outside of the UN.


Melissa Fleming

Melissa Fleming is the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications.

Ms. Fleming holds a Master of Science in Journalism from the College of Communication, Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies from Oberlin College.

Vicki Goldberg 

Vicki Goldberg is an American photography critic, author, photo historian, freelance writer and lecturer. She has written books and articles on photography and its social history.

Goldberg earned a master’s degree in art history from New York University Institute of Fine Arts.

Fabrizio Hochschild-Drummond

Mr. Fabrizio Hochschild Drummond of Chile is Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Commemoration of the United Nations 75th Anniversary.

He supports the Secretary-General in coordinating the preparation for the commemoration of the 75th  anniversary of the United Nations in 2020 and related celebrations.

Mr. Hochschild is a graduate of the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.

Patricia Nemeth

Patricia Nemeth, PhD, has been serving as the President of the New York Staff Union as well as the Vice President for Conditions of Service of the Coordinating Committee of International Staff Unions and Associations (CCISUA). 

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Global Affairs from Rutgers State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the US, and BSc in Economics from Hungary.

Christopher Phillips

Christopher Phillips is an independent curator and critic. He is a board member of Asia Art Archive-America, a member of the editorial board of the Trans-Asia Photography Review, and serves on the international advisory committee of the Three Shadows Photography Center in Beijing. He has published several books and organized many exhibitions.

Jayathma Wickramanayake

Ms. Jayathma Wickramanayake was appointed as the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth in June 2017 at the age of 26. She is the youngest senior official in the UN and the first woman to hold this position. In this role, Jayathma works to expand the UN’s youth engagement and advocacy efforts across all four pillars of work – sustainable development, human rights, peace and security and humanitarian action – and serves as a representative of and advisor to the Secretary-General.
